Special Deeds of the Grand Day of 'Arafah

(9th of Dhul Hijjah)

1. Fast and Expiate your Sins (for those not performing Hajj)

The Messenger of Allah (alla) was asked about the observance of Saum (fasting) on the day of 'Arafah. He said, "It is an expiation for the sins of the past year and the current year." [Sahih Muslim]

2. Make Lots of Du'a' (Supplication)

The Prophet (e) said: "The best of Du'a' is Du'a' of the Day of 'Arafah. and the best of what I and the Prophets before me have said is:

لا إله إلا الله وحده لا شريك له، له الملك وله الحمد، وهو على كل شيء قدير

None has the right to be worshipped but Allah alone, Who has no partner. His is the dominion and His is the praise, and He has power over all things." [Tirmidhi]

3. Repent Sincerely

The Messenger of Allah (c) said: "There is no day when Alläh sets free more servants from the Fire than the day of 'Arafah. He draws near and expresses His pride to the angels and says: 'What do these people want?"" [Sahih Muslim]
